Assessment Services

Psychological/Mental Health Assessments:

A comprehensive psychological/mental health assessment is key to effective treatment planning. If you (or your child) is struggling with their emotions, relationships, and general well-being, an assessment might be the right place to start.

Through a psychological/mental health assessment, I could help shed light onto the reasons for a client’s challenges from a psychological, biological, social, emotional, and environmental perspective.

I provide any diagnoses if relevant, and will devise a treatment plan for the client to begin addressing their needs moving forward. Assessments can be used to gain access to services and to guide treatment.

Learning Assessments:

A learning assessment can provide information about how a client thinks and learns. Learning assessments are typically used to inform services and supports in school, such as helping clients gain access to certain accommodations (e.g., access to technology).

Learning-based diagnoses (e.g., Learning Disability, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Disability) are provided, if relevant. In addition, recommendations are made on how the client’s educators can accommodate or support any underlying learning issues; strategies for the client are also included as part of the recommendations. Often, clients themselves benefit from gaining insight into their learning profile, which includes both areas of strength and challenge.

Forensic Assessments:

Forensic assessments are psychological assessments that can be used for court purposes. These types of assessments often address risk for re-offence and aim to understand the link between a person’s clinical functioning and their offending behaviours. Forensic assessments can be court-ordered; or assessments sought by one’s legal team, other service providers (e.g., probation officers), or from individuals themselves (or their caregivers).

I specialize in conducting forensic assessments, including Section 34 assessments and other legal-context assessments (e.g., diagnostic assessments, risk assessments) for youth and emerging adults involved in the criminal justice system.
